What is the Village On College Hill?
The Village on College Hill is not a place, but a volunteer-driven organization designed to provide support, services, and programs enabling College Hill residents to live healthy and meaningful  lives in their own homes for as long as possible.
Why should I become a member?
  • You want to remain in your home on College Hill

  • You never know when you may need help getting to medical appointments or even shopping, due to a sudden fall or unplanned surgery. Even if family and friends can help, they may not always be available.

  • You will have access to a list of service providers, such as plumbers,  handymen, etc.  Some providers may offer discounts to members.

  • You will have access to discounts to local shops, sporting events, concerts

  • You can enjoy programs and social events.

  • You can volunteer to help others.

  • You’ll get to know other people on College Hill.

What is included in my membership?
  • Social events and educational programs.  These can be special tours, neighborhood walks, programs on aspects of aging, and friendly get-togethers.

  • Access to information about member recommended vendors who have provided good service and may offer discounts to VCH members.

  • Reliable transportation to medical appointments or even grocery shopping.

  • Assistance with technology or small tasks around the home.

What is the cost of membership

The basic annual membership is $125 per individual or $175 for a household. Many other villages in the country charge $500 or more, per year.

If you wish to contribute more to get the organization up and running, we welcome tax-deductible contributions in any amount over and above the membership fee.

I'm in good health, why should I join now?

Members join for many reasons.  We hope many village members will join for the social aspects – parties, programs, tours  - and the opportunity to meet new people. Others will like the conveniences – having one number to call for all types of services, whether for the name of a recommended electrician, a ride to a medical appointment,  or help installing a new computer printer.

Village membership is a kind of insurance policy, whether the need is temporary (such as after a fall or surgery) or long-term.  As someone once said, “You don’t wait until your house is on fire before you get fire insurance!”

What if I don't use email or a computer?
If no one in your household has an email address or a computer, we will contact you via mail and telephone and send you a regular newsletter.
How can I sign up to be a volunteer?
Either fill out the Volunteer Application and send it to the address at the bottom of this page, or click on "Become a Service Provider" on the left and fill out the online form.
How do I contact VCH to get services?
